Redwood
Grove Nature Preserve offers a variety of
hiking trails, ranging from easy to moderate, through the redwood forest, Adobe
Creek, and the hill for stunning views. Bird watching is available, and
visitors can bring binoculars to spot birds like owls, hawks, warblers, and
woodpeckers. The preserve also provides interpretive signs to learn about
native plants and animals and picnic tables for lunch and picnics. The preserve
is pet-friendly, allowing pets to join the adventure, but they must be kept on

Homeowners in Los Altos create their own network
Los
Altos Hills homeowners have created their fiber optic network, providing
high-speed internet service to its 45 subscribers through Next Level Networks.
This pilot project has allowed them to upload and download large files faster,
and they now have one of the fastest residential speeds in the country. The
service is currently priced at $155 a month, and the price decreases as more
subscribers subscribe to share the operational costs. Next Level Networks,
founded by Darrell Gentry, believes that broadband, community-owned internet
service is the wave of the future. The service is currently available in
mid-level, affordable communities, with installation costs ranging from $2000
to $13000 per home. The company is also in talks with an out-of-state agency to
provide this service for low-income housing units. Read
